Tombstone Sadie

Tombstone Sadie

Way out west…’neith a forever sky.
There’s a dust blown minin’ town too tough to die
Where the whiskey flows just like the piano’s song
There’s Tombstone Sadie singin’ along.

All the cowboys and miners would come from afar
Knock the dust off their clothes and belly up to the bar
They’d all take a chance, but no man would win
More than a roll in the hay and a gut full of gin.

And “Sadie…Sadie…Oh Sadie,” they’d say
“Be my sweetheart and I’ll take you away.”
“Tombstone Sadie if you’d be my wife,
I promise I’d love you for all of my life.”

Well she said that she followed the railroads out west
And every “Boom-town” she busted, like eggs in the nest
And every man who ever seen her fell under her spell
N’ down into the bottom of a bottomless well.

And “Sadie…Sadie…Oh Sadie,” they’d say
“Be my sweatheart and let me take you away.”
“Tombstone Sadie if you’d be my wife,
I promise I’ll love you for the rest of my life.”

She met each proposal with a wink and a grin
And then she’d set about part’n her money from them
The fortune she made from the town that she laid
She said was all well worth the price that they paid.

And “Sadie…Sadie…Oh Sadie,” they’d say
“Be my sweatheart and I’ll take you away.”
“Tombstone Sadie if you’d be my wife, well…
I promise I’d love you for all of my life.”< Bridge>
Way out west…’neith a forever sky
There’s a dust blown minin’ town too tough to die
Where the whiskey flows just like the piano song
There’s Tombstone Sadie singin’ along.
