The Old Burren Hound
(Kyle Thompson)
KDT
There was hound and he run his own field
Everything therein fair game.
He sat overlookin' his pastoral green
The master of all his domain.
Not a wolf in sheep's clothing crawled past his eye...
Not a fox could out run him...though many did try!
And it didn't take long for the word to come round
T' stay out of the field of the Old Burren Hound.
Cause he's smart as they come and he's quick as the whip...
And not one for barking "Away!"
He tends to his business collecting his toll
And every trespasser does pay!
Sometimes an ear and sometimes a lip...
Sometimes a paw or a leg.
And that's if you was lucky and you didn't slip
While turnin' and runnin' away...
Now with my own eyes I bare witness to this
He's been giving the Devil his due.
Cuttin' down through the field of the Old Burren Hound
Is the last thing that you'd want to do.
Not a hare in the rushes moves under his eye
Not a fox could out run him...though many did try!
And the only thing saving the birds in his sky
Is the Old Burren Hound can't jump up that high!
